Tinubu Warns APC Against Infighting, Do-or-Die Politics Ahead of 2027 Primaries

President Bola Tinubu has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against infighting and “do-or-die” politics as the party begins its nationwide primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement personally signed on Thursday, Tinubu urged aspirants, party leaders and delegates to conduct themselves peacefully and uphold the principles of internal democracy, fairness, unity and sportsmanship throughout the exercise.

The President stressed that the APC must remain focused on strengthening party cohesion and preserving stability within its ranks, warning that personal ambitions should not be allowed to divide the ruling party ahead of the crucial elections.

Tinubu called on party stakeholders to embrace consensus where necessary and respect the outcome of transparent and credible primaries, noting that unity within the APC would be key to the party’s success in 2027.

His warning comes amid rising political tensions and increasing jostling for positions within the party, as several influential politicians continue consultations and alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The President also reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and peaceful political engagement, insisting that the APC must set an example of discipline and maturity in Nigeria’s political space.
