Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on Friday, June 6, 2025, during a meeting at the Government House in Uyo, attended by several APC governors, including those from Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Ebonyi, and Cross River states .
He stated that he had submitted his resignation letter to the PDP ward chairperson, with copies sent to the state and national chairpersons of the party. This move marks a significant political shift, as the PDP becomes an opposition party in Akwa Ibom for the first time in 26 years .
