Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, 83, was on Monday sworn in for a fourth term following his landslide victory in the October election, where he secured nearly 90 percent of the votes.
During the inauguration ceremony in Abidjan, Ouattara pledged to “loyally defend the constitution,” reaffirming his commitment to lead the West African nation for another five-year term. The oath was administered by Chantal Camara, President of the Constitutional Council, alongside other senior judges.
Ouattara’s re-election extends his long tenure in office amid ongoing debates about constitutional limits and political reform in the country.
