Jonathan Saddened as PDP Crisis Deepens, Dickson Declares Party Collapse

Senator Seriake Dickson has expressed concern over the worsening crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying former President Goodluck Jonathan would be deeply saddened by the party’s current state.

Speaking on a television programme, Dickson said the PDP, which once produced Jonathan as president, is “evaporating” due to prolonged internal conflicts and leadership disputes.

The former Bayelsa governor, who recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), described the new party as a credible opposition platform for Nigerians.

He rejected claims that he abandoned the PDP, insisting instead that the party had “ceased to exist” due to its internal crisis.

The PDP has faced months of division, with rival factions contesting control, leading to multiple defections and a sharp decline in its political strength.
