Adeleke to Announce New Political Party Before December 13 — Osun Commissioner

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke will unveil his new political party before December 13, according to the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.

Alimi confirmed that Adeleke resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on November 4, submitting his letter quietly to party officials in his ward in Ede North. He attributed the governor’s exit to prolonged internal crises within the PDP, especially at the national level.

He explained that the division in the party threatened Adeleke’s chances of securing a nomination ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s December 15 deadline for the 2026 governorship election.

Alimi urged residents to remain calm, insisting that the governor acted in response to political realities. He also dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress was celebrating Adeleke’s resignation, saying the opposition had expected him to remain in the PDP and face legal vulnerabilities.

According to him, consultations are ongoing regarding Adeleke’s next political move, and his new party will be revealed by December 12 or 13.
