The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a nationwide membership revalidation, mobilisation and registration exercise as part of efforts to strengthen its internal structures, expand its grassroots base and reposition the party for future political engagements.
The exercise was unveiled in Abuja during the inauguration of the party’s Membership, Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee. Speaking at the event, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, said the initiative was approved by the party’s National Working Committee to ensure the existence of a credible and verifiable membership register.
Mark stressed that a strong, properly documented membership base was essential to the party’s growth, legitimacy and electoral success. He said the revalidation would help harmonise records nationwide, strengthen grassroots presence and prepare the party for upcoming political contests.
He also disclosed that new membership cards to be issued during the exercise would carry enhanced security features and be customised for each state and the Federal Capital Territory. Mark urged members of the MRMR committee to conduct the exercise with integrity, fairness and transparency, noting that it was designed to strengthen, not divide, the party.
In his acceptance speech, MRMR Committee Chairman, Alhaji Kashim Imam, described the exercise as the beginning of a new chapter for the ADC. He said the party was determined to return to its grassroots roots by opening its doors to ordinary Nigerians, including the poor and the downtrodden.
Imam assured party members that the committee would work tirelessly to meet the deadline set by the leadership, promising nationwide mobilisation across all regions of the country.
The MRMR committee is tasked with registering new members, revalidating existing ones, harmonising membership records across states and the FCT, and deploying both electronic and manual registration platforms. The committee is expected to submit an interim report to the party’s National Working Committee within 30 days.
