Top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have convened at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Security has been heightened around the venue on Blantyre Street, with armed personnel, including soldiers from the Guards Brigade, cordoning off all access roads.
Vehicular and pedestrian movements in the area have been restricted, and journalists—despite receiving accreditation earlier in the day from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka—have been kept outside the venue.
Among the early arrivals at the meeting are members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Forum of State Chairmen, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas are also expected to attend.
This NEC meeting follows a national caucus meeting of the party held a day earlier at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
