2027: ADC Faces Collapse Without Obi, Fayose Warns

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has warned that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could collapse ahead of the 2027 presidential election if Peter Obi fails to secure the party’s presidential ticket.

Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention in Abuja, Fayose said Obi remains the central figure sustaining ADC’s relevance, stressing that the party’s survival is closely tied to his candidacy.

While describing Obi as a “fantastic” individual who made significant impact in the 2023 elections, Fayose expressed doubts about his chances of winning the presidency in 2027.

He also questioned Obi’s political options, suggesting internal opposition dynamics may limit his path, especially amid speculation that Atiku Abubakar could emerge as PDP’s candidate and Rabiu Kwankwaso regains political relevance.

Fayose further dismissed the possibility of Obi returning to the Labour Party, citing deep internal divisions, and argued that Obi’s political strength lies more in his personal appeal than in party structures.
