French President Emmanuel Macron and a delegation of United States lawmakers have restated their commitment to supporting Nigeria as the country confronts multiple security threats. The assurances were given during high-level meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and regional stability.
Macron praised Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism and violent extremism, pledging France’s continued partnership in strengthening military capacity and boosting regional security initiatives.
Similarly, the US delegation emphasized Washington’s readiness to deepen collaboration with Nigeria, particularly in areas of defence cooperation, training, and technology support. The lawmakers noted that Nigeria’s stability is crucial to Africa’s overall security architecture.
Both parties expressed confidence that sustained international partnerships will help Nigeria overcome its ongoing security challenges and promote peace across the West African region.
