Defence Minister, NSA vow to defeat terrorists, restore peace nationwide

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has warned that anyone who exploits communities, spreads terror, or threatens national security will face decisive government action. He assured Nigerians that the country will defeat terrorism and restore order.

Ribadu, speaking at a security dialogue in Abuja, revealed that Nigeria has secured 775 terrorism-related convictions, noting that each conviction represents progress in restoring safety. He stressed that Nigeria remains the only functioning democracy in the Sahel and must protect that achievement. He urged communities, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to support efforts to prevent violence at the grassroots.

Also, newly sworn-in Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), pledged to do whatever it takes to secure the nation. After taking his oath in Abuja, Musa said his priority is to strengthen synergy among the Armed Forces and other security agencies. He assured Nigerians that positive results will be seen soon, adding that President Tinubu has given clear directives to make the country safe so citizens can live and work without fear.

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah, urged the new defence minister to flush out terrorists and restore normalcy, expressing confidence that national security is now in capable hands.
