Theatre Commander Orders Intensified Offensive Against Bandits in Northwest

The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma (North West), Major General W.B. Idris, has ordered troops of the 8 Division and Sector 2 to increase offensive operations and clear armed bandits from the region.

He issued the directive during his first operational assessment visit to the 8 Division and Sector 2 at Giginya Barracks, Sokoto, where he evaluated troop performance, training standards, and the condition of soldiers wounded in action.

Addressing frontline personnel, General Idris urged them to prepare for a more intense phase of operations, stressing that victory would require courage, discipline, and sacrifice. He also assured the troops of enhanced combat resources and improved logistics to boost their effectiveness.

The Commander commended Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2, for his proactive efforts in tackling security challenges.

During the visit, General Idris met with injured soldiers and promised them quality medical care. He also shared a meal with troops at the 248 Battalion in Ilela to reinforce morale. His tour included inspections of key facilities and an operational briefing by the GOC, along with a presentation from the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association.
