EFCC: VeryDarkMan Arrested Over Multiple Cyberstalking Petitions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following multiple petitions alleging cyberstalking.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, stating that the controversial activist was taken into custody to respond to various complaints filed against him.

“We arrested him to address a series of allegations made by several petitioners,” Oyewale said. “He will be released once he meets his bail conditions, and the matter will be taken to court promptly. We are a law-abiding agency.”

When asked whether the arrest was linked to Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale clarified that the petitions originated from various individuals and were not limited to a single entity.

“The complaints are from different sources. As a commission, we have a duty to protect the rights and interests of all petitioners,” he explained.

He also confirmed that the EFCC is preparing to arraign VeryDarkMan in court.
