The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed envoys across 12 foreign cities to draw global attention to what it describes as rising undemocratic practices and attacks on opposition members in Nigeria.
In a statement, National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said the move involves establishing a Special Representatives Network (SRN) in key international capitals to strengthen engagement with foreign governments, global institutions, media, and diaspora communities.
He alleged that since July 2025, there have been efforts to destabilise opposition parties, weaken leadership structures, and restrict political participation.
According to him, the envoys will brief host countries on Nigeria’s political climate, including governance, human rights, electoral integrity, and alleged repression of opposition figures, while also presenting the party’s reform proposals.
The initiative, he noted, is aimed at positioning the ADC as a credible democratic alternative.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently derecognised factions within the party following a court ruling and has suspended engagement with them pending a decision by the Federal High Court.
The development has sparked internal reactions, with one faction calling for the removal of the INEC Chairman over alleged bias.
