Former Imo State Governors Achike Udenwa and Emeka Ihedioha, alongside other party leaders, have raised N219.7 million for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State.
The funds were raised on Tuesday during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held in Owerri.
Speaking at the event, Udenwa described the ADC as the leading opposition party in the state, noting that the money would be used to strengthen the party’s activities across Imo. He commended party members for their loyalty, which he said had positioned Imo prominently within the party at both zonal and national levels.
Udenwa expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and national levels in future elections.
“We may be the underdogs, but we will uproot the APC,” he said.
Ihedioha, in his remarks, thanked the state chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, and his team for their leadership and urged party members to intensify support for the ADC.
Okoroma said the meeting was convened to allow party leaders to strategise ahead of future political challenges. He expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections and called on members to remain committed to removing the APC from power.
The meeting also featured the reception of new members from other political parties into the ADC.
