Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence that he will be re-elected later this year, attributing his optimism to divine support and the backing of the people of the state.
The governor spoke on Monday during an inter-religious prayer session held at the State Secretariat, attended by labour leaders, religious figures and workers.
Adeleke said his administration has overcome numerous challenges in the last three years and will also surmount the challenges of re-election. He credited his achievements to God’s guidance, describing his tenure as one marked by “divine victories.”
He said since assuming office, his government has implemented pro-people policies and delivered projects across key sectors, insisting that he has fulfilled campaign promises made to the people of Osun.
The governor listed support for senior citizens, assistance to the poor, road and bridge construction, backing for artisans, and improvements in education and healthcare as some of the achievements of his administration.
Adeleke also said his government is addressing outstanding half-salary and pension debts despite difficult economic conditions, noting that funds generated in the state are being retained and circulated within Osun to support development and investment.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, said organised labour had resolved to support Adeleke’s re-election in the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
Religious leaders, including the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasaun, and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Dr John Adeleke, commended the governor’s public display of faith and prayed for divine intervention to address the state’s challenges and support his re-election bid.
