Nigerian leaders treat public office as family business — Sanusi

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has accused Nigeria’s political elite of blocking the nation’s progress by turning public office into a personal and family enterprise. Speaking at the 15th anniversary of Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria in Lagos, he said many national opportunities are deliberately wasted because leaders prioritise themselves over citizens.

Sanusi urged young Nigerians to reject the system of division, corruption, and self-interest, reminding them that the country belongs to its people not politicians. He called for unity across ethnic and religious lines and for a new ideological roadmap that can build a fair, future-focused Nigeria.
