The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is rallying around its newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as major power blocs move to strengthen the party following its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan.
According to National Organizing Secretary Theophilus Dakas Shan, PDP state chairmen, National Assembly caucuses, National Ex-Officio members, and forums of former governors, ministers and past NWC officials will hold solidarity meetings with the new leadership in Abuja.
Beginning Wednesday, the NWC will meet separately with state chairmen, House of Representatives members and Ex-Officio members. During the engagements, the Committee will also present the Certificate of Return to Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, PDP’s candidate for the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
Former governors, ministers and ex-NWC officials will meet the leadership on December 16, while the Senate Caucus will hold its session on December 17. Shan said the meetings are part of efforts to stabilize the party and chart a fresh direction.
In a related development, the PDP has constituted a 24-member Osun Governorship Appeal Panel to review complaints from the recently concluded primary ahead of the state’s 2026 election. The panel, chaired by Turaki, will sit on December 11, 2025, at the Bauchi Governors Lodge in Abuja.
The party said the panel will operate strictly in line with the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended) and the Electoral Act 2022.
