Adeleke Dumps PDP, Officially Joins Accord Party for 2026 Re-Election Bid

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has formally defected to the Accord Party, confirming his new platform for the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, alongside national and state leaders of the Accord Party. His move follows a leaked resignation letter dated November 4 and the PDP primary that produced Adebayo Adedamola as the party’s candidate.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said he joined Accord on November 6 after wide consultations, noting that the party’s ideology aligns with his administration’s focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.

Adeleke said Accord provides “a united front” for the 2026 election, adding that Osun residents supported good governance in 2022 and will “stand for continuity” under the new platform.

He declared the Accord Party as the vehicle for his second-term bid:

“Today, we unveil a new platform for the people of Osun State. From Osun West to Osun Central to Osun East, this is our platform for victory in August 2026.”

The governor emphasized that the welfare of the people remains central to his leadership and promised inclusive governance as he prepares for the upcoming polls.
