China has restated its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, gave the assurance on Wednesday during a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
Both countries reaffirmed plans to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, manufacturing, and broader strategic relations. Ambassador Yu said the China-Nigeria strategic partnership is progressing rapidly through strengthened collaboration and mutual support on key national interests.
He also announced China’s readiness to implement zero-tariff treatment for Nigerian exports and to begin preparations for the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, alongside activities for the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural Exchanges.
According to him, these initiatives will enhance strategic trust, expand economic cooperation, and deliver greater benefits to citizens of both nations.
Minister Tuggar expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for China’s continued support and reaffirmed the country’s adherence to the one-China policy, pledging to further elevate bilateral relations.
