Bandits have carried out new assaults in Niger State, abducting 24 residents — including a pregnant woman — and mutilating a blind man in separate attacks within Erena Local Government Area.
The latest incident occurred on Wednesday in Palaita community, where armed men invaded a farmland and kidnapped labourers harvesting crops. A heavily pregnant woman was among those taken.
In another attack within the same area, the assailants reportedly cut off the arm of a blind man after he allegedly failed to comply with their demands.
The renewed violence has triggered fear across nearby communities, with residents urging authorities to take urgent action to curb rising insecurity in the state.
