Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has hosted a lavish ‘owambe’ banquet in honour of President Bola Tinubu’s reported condolence visit to victims of the recent killings in Yelewata.
The event, held at the Benue State Government House banquet hall in Makurdi, features a blend of fine dining and entertainment for political stakeholders, with dancers, singers, and other performers showcasing Benue’s hospitality and rich cultural heritage.
Traditional rulers from Benue’s diverse ethnic communities, as well as Executive Chairmen of the state’s 23 Local Government Areas, are in attendance. Also present are members of the Benue Elders’ Council, the State House of Assembly, local party executives, the Benue State Executive Council, and leaders from religious and civil society groups.
The banquet is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries including governors from the North Central region, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; APC National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje; and other influential figures.
Also expected are Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; former governors Samuel Ortom and Gabriel Suswam; members of the APC National Working Committee; and federal lawmakers representing the affected communities.
