Nobody Can Challenge My Re-Election, Soludo Brags

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has challenged opposition parties in Anambra State, asserting that he sees no worthy competitor as he seeks re-election in the November 8, 2025, governorship poll.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor claimed there is a general consensus among Ndi Anambra (the people of Anambra) that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has delivered on governance and deserves another term.

Speaking during a media parley to mark his third anniversary in office, Soludo emphasized that while Anambra voters may support different parties in national elections, they remain loyal to APGA for governorship and local government seats.

“If there is an election—and there will be one—if I am on the ballot, I ask: who else is running? Which party is fielding a candidate? So far, unless someone appears from nowhere, I haven’t heard of any,” he remarked.

He acknowledged calls urging him to seek a second term but maintained that APGA would decide its candidate.

“The party has to nominate me, and my employers—the Anambra people—must interview me and choose to renew my mandate. If that happens, it would be a great honor and privilege to continue serving,” he stated.

Anambra is one of eight states where governorship elections are held off-season due to past litigations and court rulings, alongside Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Osun, and Ondo.
