The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked land titles of 4,794 property owners across 10 districts in Abuja due to non-payment of ground rents for over a decade.
The announcement was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, during a press briefing at the FCT Administration’s headquarters in Abuja.
Olayinka revealed that a total of 8,375 property owners owe the FCTA over six billion naira in unpaid ground rents. He also announced an extended grace period for more than 3,500 landowners to settle their outstanding debts or face revocation.
The affected areas include the Central Business District, Garki 1 and 2, Wuse 1 and 2, Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape.
