Niger Police Detain Officer Over Stray Bullet That Injured Immigration Personnel

The Niger State Police Command has detained an officer whose stray bullet struck an immigration officer while attempting to disperse hoodlums in Minna.

Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Christian Oladimeji sustained a gunshot wound after a police patrol team was attacked by hoodlums while recovering suspected stolen materials.

While presenting a ₦1 million cash donation to the victim’s family for medical expenses, Niger State Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, confirmed that the officer involved had been taken into custody and was undergoing administrative disciplinary action along with his colleagues on duty at the time.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Danmamman—represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Aminu Garba—expressed gratitude to the victim’s family for their patience and support. He assured them that the police would continue to stand by them throughout the officer’s recovery.

The CP also reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the police, the immigration service, and other security agencies in the state, pledging to uphold and strengthen these partnerships.
